Description:
"'Cami' was derived in 1973 by crossing the monembryonic hybrid 5O-15A-6 ['Comune' clementine (C. clementina Hort. ex Tan.) x 'Avana' mandarin (C. deliciosa Ten.)] as female parent with 'Mapo' tangelo (C. deliciosa x C. paradisi as male parent. In 1977 some scions taken from the apical part of the seedling, named 73-Cam-6, were grafted onto Troyer citrange. The abbreviation 73-Cam-6 represents the year of crossing, the initials of 'Comune' clementine (C), 'Avana' mandarin (A) and 'Mapo' tangelo (M), and the seedling number. In 1980, the grafted plant was planted, together with other hybrids, in the 'Palazzelli' Lentini (Syracuse) experimental orchard of the Citrus Experimental Institute."
