Environment description: Grey loam - from sandstone. South slope 20 percent. Open woods. Associated with: Quercus nigra, Q. stellata, Q. prinus, Vaccinium pallidum, Pinus taeda and Carya.
Comment: Shrubs of this species are scattered as understory plants in this forest. Pubescent red-tan petioles and stems. Some plants with small green fruits. Species has tap roots. Fruit when present were about 4 cm long green and not yet ripe.
