Locality: Karatau Province. Boraldy River Forest area. 5 km. North of Boraldy Forest Camp which is 80 km. North of Chimkent.
Coordinates: 42.8883, 69.8811 (Map it)
Elevation: 910m.
Environment description: Xerophytic. Very stony soil, dry. Slope incline: 10 degrees, N-NW. Rainfall: less than 300 mm. Dominant tree sp: Crataegus; Associated-M. Sieversii. Dominant shrub sp: Amygdalus; Assoc-Cerasus. Associated herbaceous: Rheum, Tulipa.
Comment: Seeds for the seedling mothers and pollen sources were colllected at this time. Open area, 400 x 400 m. Scattered distribution of 250 small trees. No sucker propagation. 60% fruiting, very diverse uniformity. Most fascinating population of apples in a true xerophytic site. Hard to believe apples there.
