Narrative
"A large tree with thick leaves capable of withstanding salt spray. The middle flowers are in showy heads, and the fruits, 1-1/2 inches through, remind one of the osage-orange; the seeds are extremely small. The tree is said to be very beautiful, when in flower." -From the Descriptive List of Plants Available for Distribution at the US Plant Introduction Garden of Coconut Grove Fla., Aug 1940
