Environment description: Open white oak forest. Mostly shaded. Flat to 20% slope with an often western aspect. Associated with Ostrya, Desmodium, Quercus alba, Q. rubra, Amelanchier, and Christmas fern.

Comment: Occasional population abundance with irregular distribution. >100 plants found over a large area. Collection probably 7-10 days early for peak fruit ripeness; many trees still green.
