Narrative
Originally received 2/1/94, but it died. Type = Hybrid. Self-fertile. Cross of Fennell 105 (V. rufotomenstosa x Ribier) with Fennell 23 (a wild vine, apparently a natural cross between V. shuttleworthii and V. rofotomentosa), the seed parent. First fruited 1946 in Turrialba, Costa Rica. Clusters 8"-10", somewhat compound. Berries round, medium size, black. Skin medium thin, pulp tender and melting, flavor similar to vinifera. In Florida both size and quality of fruit have been inferior to what was seen in Costa Rica. Vine healthly and vigorous.
