Environment description: Growing along the edge of the path in the understory on a northwest facing slope; in association with Philadelphus sp., Syringa pekinensis, Rubus sp., Polygonatum sp., and several other herbaceous plants.
Comment: Deciduous, multi-stemmed shrub 1.0 to 1.5 meters tall with a spreading habit; leaves ovate to 5 cm long with a dull upper surface, light to glaucous beneath, finely serrated leaf margin.
