Environment description: Common in open areas and thickets on cut-over NE-facing hillside near ocean.
Comment: Slender perennial herb to 1.5m tall, stems green, purple at base, lvs. med. green, lustrous to dull above, slightly glaucous beneath; flowers purple, calyces wine-purple.
