Habitat: Field margin
Environment description: Plants growing in margins of cultivated cereal fields and olive plantation and roadside. Sandy loam soil with medium stones and good drainage. Plants growing with Avena sterilis, Ballata. Spikelets somewhat inflated, lateral glume teeth somewhat developed. Intermediate in those characters between subsp. eucomosa and heldreichii.
