Narrative
Stems thicker and fewer leaves than other released varieties except for Kanlow. 5-40 mm taller than Blackwell after the second growing season, but exhibits less seedling vigor during the establishment year. Reaches full anthesis 7-10 days earlier than Blackwell. Intended for spring nesting cover for ground nesting birds, and escape cover for wildlife. Can be used as a component of warm-season grass mixtures on droughtly sites. Released in 1986 cooperatively by SCS, Cornell University, New York Dept. of Environmental Conservation Div. of Fish and Wildlife, and the Pennsylvaia Game Commission.
