Narrative
Used for hay and haylage production. Adapted to Phytophthora infested soils in the central U.S. Similar in fall and winter dormancy to WL 311. Yields equal to or better than WL 309, Agate, Vernal, Team, and Dawson. Flower color mostly purple, blue and blue variegated with 1% yellow, green and white. Resistant to Phytophthora root rot, bacterial wilt, spotted alfalfa aphid, and pea aphid. Moderate resistance to anthracnose and Fusarium wilt.

Over 100 experimental and commercial WL cultivars with good resistance to pea aphid and spotted alfalfa aphid were screened. 3,000 plants of each entry was screened for Phytophthora root rot. 89 plants from 10 entries selected.
