Narrative
Type = Plum. Per evaluation of Introduced Plum Varieties (see citation): "Earliest date of full bloom 2/21; latest date of full bloom 3/22; average date of full bloom 3/10; average date of ripening 8/5; average number of days between full bloom and ripening: 148. Introduced by Luther Burbank in 1898. Fruit diameter 5.6 cm, length 4.5 cm; oblate; skin greenish-yellow, medium heavy purple blush, light bloom; flesh yellow; sugar medium, acid medium; 17.6% soluble solids; fair quality; slightly cling stone; light yield; season second week of August; meaty texture, tastes and looks like P. simonii. Fruit quality good, but much less than Simon; not as large, bright or attractive as Simon." Fruit matures shortly before Burbank; large when well grown, oblate, dark red; flesh yellowish, firm, very juicy, aromatic, sweet; good; stone small, oval, slightly flattened, semi-free."
