  • non Betula fruticosa auct. nonn. (= B. humilis Schrank)
  • although Pallas, on p. 173 (1771) of his Reise, accepted the already published B. fusca Pall. ex Georgi (1775) for the species described in Anhang no. 133, in this entry (p. 758. 1776) he uses the name B. fruticosa, with no mention of B. fusca, apparently having changed his mind on the name of this species. Because neither the holotype, all syntypes, nor the name itself was cited in the 1776 entry, B. fruticosa is not a superfluous name (Shenzhen ICN Art. 52.2)
