Per the collection observation notes of Maxine Thompson: "Harvest date August. 19; many suckers; fruit round; skin color black; very bitter; poor eating quality; moderately juicy; no cracking; seed spherical; two trees had uprooted and fallen; some fruits had large galls; species is common, but most trees had no fruits."
