Narrative
Type = American Hybrid. Per Hedrick (see citation): "Said to be an accidental seedling from James Nicholson; sent out in 1895 by P.R. De Muth, Connellsville, Pennsylvania. Very vigorous, hardy, usually productive; stamens reflexed; clusters medium, usually shouldered, loose; berries large, roundish, dark dull red with lilac bloom, persistent; juicy, tender, vinous, good; skin thick, rather tender, inclined to crack. Resembles Salem in appearance; worthy of further trial."
