Narrative
Seedling selection from cold-hardy population found in the demilitarized zone in northwestern South Korea; which locality or population is not clearly known. A collecting label "SOY-1" is said to have accompanied the material that Clifford Parks received. Given to Dr. Richard Olsen while visiting North Carolina. According to Yinger (pers. comm. through Dr. Olsen), although the original trip notes were lost due to a fire, he believes this was collected on Socheongdo and that the identifier refers to this locality and his name (Yinger).
