Narrative
DS19-22 is an improved late IV soybean germplasm with indeterminate stem termination, purple flowers, tawny pubescence, brown pods, brown hila, and yellow seed coats. Plants of DS19-22 are 98 cm tall and have a 1.4 lodging score (1-5 scale). Seeds weigh 15.0 g/100 seeds. DS19-22 has partial resistance (Red Brown reaction) to 13 soybean rust (Phakopsora pachyrhizi) isolates (AL04-1, AU79-1, BZ01-1, BZ01-2, CO04-2, HW98-1, IN73-1, LA04-1, PG01-2, SA01-1, TW80-2, TH02-1, and ZM01-1), susceptibility (TAN reaction) to PH77-1, TW72-1, and MS06-1b, and a mixed reaction to AL04-3. The differential reaction of DS19-22 to the 17 isolates was unique, indicating a unique mode of resistance to SBR. DS19-22 had 21% yield loss under heavy soybean rust pressure in Paraguay, whereas L87-0482 (Rpp4) suffered 26% yield loss and susceptible check S07-5049 had 44% yield loss. DS19-22 has the Rps1k gene for resistance to Phytophthora root and stem rot (Phytophthora sojae) races 1, 3, 4, 7, and 17, but susceptibility to race 25.

Description:
L87-0482 (PI 547879) x GC00138-29 L87-0482 was developed by ARS as a backcross near-isogenic line of 'Williams 82' with Rpp4 resistance derived from PI 459025. GC00138-29 was developed by the World Vegetable Center (formerly the Asian Vegetable Research and Development Center) and is derived from ('CH#1' x 'Anoka') x ('Clark 63' x 64-4). CH#1 was developed by the National Chung Hsing University. Anoka (PI 548508) was developed by the University of Minnesota. Clark 63 (PI 548532) was developed by ARS. 64-4 is a breeding line from Thailand with unidentified SBR resistance gene(s).
