Environment description: A managed forest with minor topo changes, but enough to create distinct wet and dry zones. Scrub oak dominates understory where dry; Pinus palustris (overstory) and Ilex glabra where wet. Parts of this forest appear to have burned within the last 5 years. EPA Ecoregion III: Southern Coastal Plain (75). EPA Ecoregion IV: Central Florida Ridges and Uplands (75c). Geology: Cypresshead Formation. Soil: Myakka-Myakka, wet, Series Sands, 0 to 2 percent slopes.
Associated species: Persea palustris; Pinus palustris; Ilex glabra; Liatris sp.; Serenoa repens; Quercus spp. [scrub oaks]; Schizachyrium scoparium; Xyris sp.
