Narrative
Accession is a blue hubbard type squash (long, vigorous vine type) that has been grown by Rev. Donald Hawes and siblings for approximately 35 years (northeast Iowa). Germplasm was originally shared with D. Hawes via Mildred and Jim Levis. Fruits have been consistent in morphology/phenology/etc. each year with no selection for specific traits. Fruits generally persist well in storage for 4-5 months at 43-57 degrees Fahrenheit. Seeds typically planted in early May generate mature fruits by late September/early October (northeast Iowa). According to locals this is one of the best tasting squash.
