Associated species: Callicarpa americana; Carya tomentosa; Celtis laevigata; Chasmanthium sessiliflorum; Ilex vomitoria; Pinus palustris; Pinus taeda; Quercus incana; Quercus margarettiae.
Comment: Shrub, height 4 m. Flowers red, large, fragrant. Many plants throughout this abandoned cemetery; many with large red fragrant flowers; this collection has the best red flowers of any that we have seen. Division collected. Photographed; One herbarium voucher collected.
