USDA-N6006 is an F4 derived, maturity group (MG) VI line from a cross of N05-741 × N05-196. N05-741 is a selection from the cross ‘Holladay’ (Burton et al., 1996) × G96-2272. Holladay is an early MG V cultivar developed by the USDA-ARS from the cross N77-179 x ‘Johnston’. N77-179 is a USDA-ARS breeding line developed from a cross of N70-1549 x N72-3213. Johnston is a MG VIII cultivar released by the USDA-ARS derived from the cross N70-2173 x ‘Hutton’. G96-2272 is a breeding line developed at the University of Georgia (UGA) in Athens, GA derived from a cross between DPL 3776 and G86-1267. DPL-3776 resulted from a cross of Asgrow A7986 x Asgrow A5980. G86-1267 is a breeding line from UGA developed from D76-9665 and ‘Braxton’. N05-196 resulted from a cross of V93-3114 × N97-61. Parents of V93-3114 were FFR-544 and ‘Hutcheson’ (Buss et al., 1988). FFR-544 is a variety cultivar from FFR Cooperative. Hutcheson is a MG V cultivar derived from the cross of V68-1034 x ‘Essex’, developed by the Virginia Agricultural Experiment Station. N97-61 resulted from a cross of N90-541 × N90-1101. N90-541 was derived from a cross between ’Hutcheson’ and N80-1014 (Kenty and Mosley, 1994). N90-1101 was a selection from the cross ‘Brim’ (Burton et al., 1994) × N80-777.
