Leaves alternate, entire, leathery, oblong, oblong-lanceolate, often with a hastate base; glabrous to minutely pubescent on lower surface, 3 prominent veins; apex rounded to apiculate. Flowers axillary, greenish-yellow umbels, dioecious. Fruit pea-sized, wine-red to purple, often glaucous, with 2-3 seeds. Common throughout range. Fruit collected from one plant.
