Narrative
Rooted runner received, plant has runners. How the Hawaii4 plant is related to the one described in the Slovin and Rabinowitz paper is completely unknown, but here is the information I know of: 1) Vladimir Shulaev received the Hawaii 4 described in Slovin and Rabinowitz from the germplasm repository (along with several other accessions) to test for ability to transform efficiently. He found that Hawaii 4 transformed most efficiently, so went ahead with this accession. 2) Vladimir propagated from seed rather than from runners.
