Narrative
Full name as recorded at U.S. National Arboretum: Nyssa (hybrid selection). Nyssa hybrid, selection number R11-7-13. An open-pollinated seedling of NY-2-4-94 (female) growing at the Glenn Dale U.S. Plant Introduction Station, from seed collected in 2012. Pyramidal, small selection with good shape and red fall color; distinctive leaves. The seed parent, NY-2-4-94, resulted from a cross made by Louise Riedel (U.S. National Arboretum) between (USNA native female) Nyssa sylvatica NA 64447-H [CMSL "behind crapemyrtle field, smaller, left"] times (cultivated male) Nyssa ogeche NA 64445-B.
