Narrative
Full name as recorded at U.S. National Arboretum: Asclepias tuberosa. Note per curator: "Unknown source. I had been told that A. tuberosa in FV meadow was planted originally, pre-1987. But I could be wrong and some or all could be naturally occurring. However lack of it in other meadows suggests planted originally." [Update 8/18/2021: possibly NA 52604, which was originally collected near the Gotelli Conifer Collection as seed in 1983 by Sherry McNatt; 8 plants were planted in the Fern Valley "prairie" in 1984. According to Freeman's checklist of naturally-occurring plants at USNA, this species was found occasionally in dry meadows, so it may be of native origin. -SBL] Form received: existing plant.
