Narrative
Full name as recorded at U.S. National Arboretum: Corylopsis glandulifera. According to the SSR study by Lattier et al. (2022), 60237-H is hexaploid and clustered together with the also-hexaploid C. glandulifera NA 57391-H (which was near, but slightly apart from, other NA 57391 individuals); it is true that this accession has always seemed more similar to C. glandulifera and unlike our wild-collected C. sinensis, so a reidentification is warranted. Whether the original material could have become mixed up with another C. glandulifera accession like NA 57391 early on is unknown, however. -SBL
