Description:
ND POLAR is the result of a cross [(Eclipse x G21212) x ND021047] made in 2010. Eclipse is a black bean cultivar released by North Dakota State University (NDSU). G21212 is a black bean germplasm line (landrace from Colombia) with reported tolerance to low soil fertility and drought. ND021047 is an NDSU navy breeding line with upright plant architecture and high seed yield and quality but it has very late maturity. This breeding line originates from a complex cross series involving several navy breeding lines mostly from the dry bean breeding program from Michigan State University.
