Environment description: Extremely high-quality remnant fen. Extremely wet, spongy soils with surface water visible at time of collection.
Number of plants sampled: 35
Associated species: Carex spp., Cornus sp., Prunus americana, Sambucus canadensis, Acer negundo, Salix nigra, Salix amygdaloides, Salix exigua, Salix discolor (circa 20 specimens noted), Caltha palustris, Pedicularis sp., Sorghastrum nutans, Phlox maculata, and Monarda fistulosa.
Comment: Specimens at collection site restricted to areas with standing water. Sampled across a 3.0 acre area. At time of sampling (cuttings), majority of specimens with catkins were past bud break with a few catkins starting to flower. Majority of S. discolor at site were past peak flower.
