Description:
S16-15170C is derived from the cross 'S11-16653' x 'S08-17361' made in summer 2014 at the MU-FDRC in Portageville, MO. The female parent S11-16653 is a conventional MG 5 (RM 5.3) developed by the MU-FDRC and commercially released in 2016 as a soybean cultivar. It is derived from the cross ‘S07-2680’ x ‘LG04-6000’ and has resistance to SCN races 1 (HG Type 2.5.7), 3 (HG Type 5.7), and 5 (HG Type 2.5.7), PRR, and SC. S07-2680 is a breeding line developed by the MU-FDRC and carries resistance to SCN races 2 and 3 and SC. LG04-6000 is a germplasm developed and released by the USDA-ARS and the Illinois Agricultural Experiment Station to enhance the genetic diversity of U.S. soybeans as it is the first American germplasm that has ‘Jilin 15’ (PI 436682) as a progenitor. The male parent S08-17361 is a conventional breeding line derived from the cross ‘LG04-5196’ x ‘S00-9925-10’. It was developed at the MU-FDRC and has high-yielding potential and resistance to SC. LG04-5196 is a germplasm developed by the USDA-ARS and the Illinois Agricultural Experiment Station focusing on enhancing genetic diversity, whereas S00-9925-10 was developed at the MU-FDRC and has resistance to SC, SDS, and FLS.
