Narrative
During 2018, 2019 and 2020, the three selected germplasm from the three crosses were planted with the check varieties in a randomized complete designs at two locations at Stoneville and were evaluated for their performances for lint yield, fuzz percent and quality traits. Significant differences were observed between entries for lint yield, fuzz percent, micronaire, fiber length and fiber strength. Overall, the candidate germplasm USDA MD 21-1 and USDA MD 21-2 did not perform better than the check varieties for lint yield. However, USDA MD 21-3 gave better yield than the check varieties. All the three candidate germplasm had lower fuzz percent than the check varieties. This indicates a better ginning efficiency of these germplasm. In fiber quality (fiber length and fiber strength) all the three germplasm performed significantly better than the check varieties. Micronaire and uniformity values were similar between the candidates and check varieties.

Three crosses 90neCK/Del Cerro//MD 10-5 (USDA MD 21-1), 0774-3-3/FM 958-6//Raider 276/3/3*JJ1145ne (USDA MD 21-2),and [(MD 15 OPxMD 52ne)x(TTU 0782xTAM 98-99ne)] x[(AR 9317-26xFM 966)x(JJ1145nexSG 747)] (USDA MD 21-3) were made at Stoneville, MS in 2010. F1 was obtained in 2011. The F2 population were planted in the field in 2013. One boll per plant was bulked and the F3 population was grown in 2014. This process was repeated in 2015.In 2016 individual plants were selected for testing.
