Narrative
Eleven hexaploid triticale addition lines each with an added chromosome from Thinopyrum distichum have been developed and described over a number of years (both at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa and NDSU, USA). The Th. distichum addition chromosomes have been allocated to chromosome groups based on collinearity with common wheat and Th. elongatum, but were arbitrarily placed in either of the J1d or J2d genomes. This addition chromosome set represents eleven of the 14 Th. distichum chromosomes (1J2d, 3J2d and 5J2d could not be obtained) and constitutes a useful resource for further study and utilization of genetic variability from this wild relative in triticale and wheat breeding. [See PI 699246 - 699256 for the set.]
