Narrative
Seeds were collected for conservations by the Tallgrass Prairie Center, Plant Materials Program, at the University of Northern Iowa, and germinated there from original collector's seed in March 2021. On July 2, 2021, 63 live seedlings were delivered in Ames, Iowa by Laura Fischer Walter and later transplanted into a field at the North Central Regional Plant Introduction Station for seed production.

Description:
It was collected as Dalea candida, but was wrongly changed to Dalea purpurea, based on notes and discussions when it was accessioned and in confusion with another accession. The situation was studied and resolved with a change to Dalea candida in 2022 by David Brenner.
