Environment description: Mixed broadleaved evergreen, deciduous and coniferous forest; north-running stream valley. Soil thin, rocky with organic matter. Slope: 30 degrees. Aspect: Northeast.

Associated species: Acer palmatum, Aesculus turbinata, Eurya japonica, Hydrangea sikokiana, Leucothoe keiskei, Litsea coreana, Quercus acuta, Rhododendron serpyllifolium, Trochodendron aralioides, Zelkova serrata.
Comment: Tree. Height 15 m, DBH 45 cm. Bark grey, smooth. Leaves alternate, elliptic, evergreen, 12.5 cm long by 5 cm wide. Infructescences: clusters of green drupes, 1 cm long by 0.8 cm wide. Collected from a branch along the road. Parent tree was nearby. Seed collected from one plant; three herbarium vouchers collected; photographed.
