Loss-of-function mutations for VRN-A1 and VRN-B1 were selected from an ethyl methane sulphonate
(EMS) mutagenized Kronos population and were crossed twice with a Kronos line carrying loss-of-function
mutations in both VRN2 homeologs (Distelfeld et al. 2009). Mutations in vrn-A1 and vrn-B1 were combined
by crossing using marker assisted selection, and a vrn-A1 vrn-B1 homozygous mutant (vrn1-null) was
selected in a Kronos vrn2-null background.
