Comment: A while back I found a strawberry growing wild that had pale pink flowers near my home in unincorporated Pierce County, WA. At first I thought a bird had dropped a seed from a pink flowered Comarum hybrid growing in a local garden, but after further observation as well as comparison to Fragaria vesca ssp. bracteata I realized that its characteristics such as the long terminal tooth of the leaf and now even the subsequently observed ripening fruit match F. v. ssp. bracteata. Only the flower color is different. eFloras Flora of North America I found a reference to a pink flowered form: "Plants of subsp. bracteata with pinkish petals are relatively rare and have been called forma helleri (Holzinger) B. Boivin."
