Environment description: Collection Locality - Wild Chile Botanical Area. County - Santa Cruz. Biotic Community - Semidesert Grassland/Shrubland. Habitat Description - In semi-desert grassland/shribland ecotone into Madrean oak woodland, but with unique species composition. Plants are found in steep canyon bottoms and rocky South-facing slopes above drainages almost always at the base of a Celtis reticulata tree (sometimes mesquite or kidneywood). Very rugged terrain with loose rocks. Watershed - Upper Santa Cruz. Population Size - 50. Aspect Direction - South. Directions to Collection Locality - Take Santa Gertrudis road into CNF land in the Tumacacori highlands, after the gas line road intersection, take the right road at the fork, go through the cattle gate and drive until the road peters out. Walk North and West into the canyon. Population is at the bottom of the canyon and on South facing slops above the canyon.
