Habitat: Wild Habitat
Environment description: Tree stand along a dried resaca (old river distributary), mixed with sparse native thornforest vegetation.
Comment: This is the last natural stand of this species in the United States, a population of 69 adult individuals Disturbances include the resaca being dry except for few days following a very significant rain event. Adult individuals look healthy but there is very little recruitment. Also, the site is surrounded by urban environment. Permanently flooding the resaca would likely ensure the persistence of existing individuals as well as recruitment.
