Environment description: Sandstone outcrop in incredibly thin, low pH (less than 4.0) soil; soil on outcrop is suspected to be sandy; surrounding soil is conglomerate material (shale and limestone).

Comment: Tree; height 25 ft; DBH 29.3 cm; bark dark gray-brown, heavy with lichens, deep V-shaped furrows; leaves obovate to narrowly elliptic or narrowly obovate (base subacute, apex broadly acuminate); margins regularly toothed; abaxially light green and glabrous, adaxially dark green and glossy; flowers not present; acorn, green to yellow, 15 to 30 mm by 10 to 20 mm.
