Environment description: East side of hiking trail, near agricultural field; stream on opposite side of trail; open [full sun].

Comment: Large tree (height 40 ft, spread 30 ft, DBH 57 cm); bark ridged on lower trunk, upper portion white and brown, exfoliating; leaves palmate, with wide, sharply pointed lobes, diseased; tree almost completely defoliated; fruits achenes in fruiting "ball", brown, long pedicel, hanging below branches.
