Environment description: Valley at edge of road that was subsiding and falling into the river below among bamboo thicket. Lots of organic matter over friable soil.

Comment: Huge multi-stemmed tree with vase-shaped habit. Height 25 m, DBH 50 cm. Bark brownish gray, with warty texture. Leaves ovate, 7 x 5.5 cm, with 12 vein pairs; petiole 7 mm long. Fruit: cupules borne on 3 cm pedicels; 22 mm long and 12 mm wide; straps on cupules up to 5 to 6 mm long, green.
