Environment description: Roadside edge; rubbly old field soil, little topsoil but still alluvial deposit.

Comment: First tree upright, had been coppiced, 3 main stems, showing great fall color; 2nd tree single-stemmed and upright. Height 6 m; largest trunk DBH 18 cm. Bark mostly smooth, green. Leaves three to mosty five-lobed, with some nice red color developing; serrate margin, particularly toward ends of lobes; leaf base flat. Samaras to 3 cm in length, wings of pairs spreading about horizontal; borne in terminal clusters.
