Narrative
Plants measuring approximately 60-90 cm in height. Infructescences (purple) still flowering at time of harvest (19 August 2020). Population (EC-ID: 19112) at Metcalf Wildlife Management Area was originally documented by Elray S. Nixon on 15 July 1964 (Voucher #164) and later by Steven B. Rolfsmeier on 30 June 1991 (Vouchers #9127 and #9134).

in Nebraska is currently tracked by the Nebraska Natural Heritage Program and is listed (6 November 2019) as a S1 (Critically Imperiled - at very high risk of extirpation in the state due to very restricted range, few populations or occurrences, steep declines, severe threats or other factors) and Tier 2 species (Tier 2 - species are typically those that are not at-risk from a global or national perspective but are rare or imperiled within Nebraska).
