Locality: Talladega National Forest, Shoal Creek District, edge of Dugger Mountain Wilderness. Along Kings Gap Mountain Road, approximately 6.5 miles northeast of Jacksonville.

Associated species: Quercus sp., Acer rubrum, H. barbara, H. arborescens.
Comment: Large, continuous population with likely at least 100 - 500 genotypes in a 1.4 mile stretch. Locally abundant. Collections made from 15 distinct plants across an area spanning latitude 33.835046 deg. N to 33.84549 deg. N and longitude 85.637225 deg. W to 85.654157 deg. W. The GPS coordinates provided refer to NA 86203.01/acc. 809, the first plant sampled in the population. GPS coordinates for each sampled plant are available upon request.
