Locality: Talladega National Forest, Shoal Creek District, Skyway Mountain. Along Skyway Mountainway (Highway 500), Forest Service Road 531 and Joseph Spring Road (FR522). South end of population is approximately 12.25 miles northest of Oxford.

Associated species: Pinus sp., H. arborescens, Oxydendrum arboreum.
Comment: A large continuous population, likely with at least 500 - 1000 genotypes in a 4.5 mile stretch. Locally abundant. Collections made from 18 distinct plants across an area spanning latitude 33.662718 deg. N to 33.710054 deg. N and longitude 85.628001 deg. W to 85.655385 deg. W. The GPS coordinates provided refer to NA 86202.01/acc. 832, the first plant sampled in the population. GPS coordinates for each sampled plant are available upon request.
