Comment: Noted approximately six patches of S. pilosa along a two-mile linear stretch. Due to clonally spreading nature of species, estimate of 25 genets in this area.

Narrative
Accession sampled in nature displaying pinkish-white flowers with small, light purple splotches with purple stamens on plants measuring circa 1-2.5’ in height. Stems and leaves heavily pubescent. Panicles measuring approximately 1-8” in length. Peak flowering and fruiting occurred 27 June and 21 July, respectively in central Iowa (2020). Flowering occurs for approximately 45 days. Extremely attractive to a wide array of pollinators, mostly Bombus. Clonally spreads via suckering where a single clone may encompass e.g. 10-15 square feet.
