Environment description: Extremely high-quality remnant floating bog that has never been hydrologically altered. Very diverse habitat.

Associated species: Thelypteris palustris, Lysimachia thyrsiflora (flowering), Carex spp., Cephalanthus occidentalis, Spiraea alba, Ribes americanum, and Salix petiolaris

Comment: At time of collection (5 June 2020), noted approximately 1,000-2,000 stems across 2-3 acre area. Species only noted in deep sphagnum mat with substantial water. At time of collection (6 June 2020), female catkins were essentially at the very end of dispersal. Estimated time of seed dispersal was likely 7-10 days prior. Sampled 70 specimens throughout area. Most plants with 6-10" of new growth. Only circa 10% of the specimens noted had fruited.
