Narrative
The mean stalk height (ground level to top visible dewlap, dewlaps form the hinge of the blade joint in sugarcane) of 10 stalks of CP 11-1314 was 309 cm. The mean internode length of 10 CP 11-1314 stalks at the fifth internode from the ground was 19.3 cm. Stalk diameter was measured at the middle of the second (33.2 mm), fifth (28.3 mm), and tenth (25.6 mm) internodes from the ground. CP 11-1314 exhibited a bobbin shaped internode and a growth ring with a mean width of 2.1 mm at the fifth internode from the ground. The root band of CP 11-1314 was 7.1 mm wide. Bud furrows were absent. The buds of CP 11-1314 were green yellow (7.5GY5/6). Buds of CP 11-1314 had shapes described as round bud with central germ pore at the fifth internode from the ground. The bud length and width means of the fifth bud from the bottom from five stalks of CP 11-1314 were 7.3 and 8.1 mm, respectively. CP 11-1314 is resistant to smut (caused by Ustilago scitaminea (Sydow & P. Sydow), orange rust (caused by Puccinia kuehnii E.J. Butler), brown rust (caused by Puccinia melanocephala H. & P. Sydow), Mosaic, and leaf scald (caused by Xanthomonas albilineans Ashby, Dowson) and moderately resistant to ratoon stunt (caused by Leifsonia xyli subsp. xyli Evtsuhenko et al.).

The cross from which CP 11-1314 was selected was made in 2008 at the USDA-ARS Sugarcane Field Station in Canal Point, FL. The female parent of CP 11-1314 is CP 05-1451. The male parent was unknown and could be any one of the clones used in the polycross.
