Environment description: In shallow water and on the wet shoreline of Pea's Creek.
Comment: A very rare and apparently undescribed species collected as seed in Ledges State Park by Jimmie Thompson, approximately 2009, and planted in a wet spring-fed part of his yard in Story County. The populations spread in Thompson's yard (lat 42.070404 Lon -93.699349), where seeds were collected from about 100 plants on September 30, 2019 as DB 2019003.

Associated species: Typha, and Impatiens.
Comment: This species is very invasive and spreads rapidly by both seeds and rhizomes. Several sizable, scattered populations have developed from seeds hundreds of yards downstream from Thompson's property and along an adjacent small stream. With the heavy rains and flooding in recent years, populations will probably develop from seeds entering the larger stream, Squaw Creek, and beyond.
