Narrative
The mean plant height of YZ081609 was 251 cm; the average stalk diameter of YZ081609 was 2.8 cm; the stool growth habit of YZ081609 was erect; the adherence of leaf sheath was medium. For the internode parts, the shape of internodes was Conoidal; the color was Kelly either exposed to sun or not. For the node, the wax ring was strong; the root band was broad in width and gray purple in color; its bud tip in relation to growth ring was intermediate; the bud shape was pentagonal; its position of bud base in relation to leaf scar was even with. For the leaf sheath, the hairs (groups 57 and 60) was absent or very few; the shape of ligule was deltoid; the shape of underlapping auricle was lanceolate; the shape of overlapping auricle was Deltoid; the color of dewlap was greyish-green. For leaf blade, its width at the longitudinal midpoint was medium; there was serration of margin. YZ081609 was moderately susceptible to smut (caused by Ustilago scitaminea H. & P. Sydow), and was highly resistant to mosaic (Sorghum mosaic virus and Sugarcane mosaic virus)

YZ081609 was selected from cross YZ94-343 x Yuetang00-236. The female parent, YZ94-343, was an advanced clone developed by YSRI, China. The male parent, Yuetang00-236, was a cultivar developed by GPBI, China. The grandparents of YZ081609 were ROC10, Yacheng82-96, Yuenong73-204, and CP72-1210. The great grandparents of YZ081609 were ROC5, F152, Yacheng78-4, CP36-105, Yuetang57-423, CP49-50, CP65-357, and CP56-63.
