Comment: Collected by Dick Pearson, University of British Columbia, from the alpine forests of Mt. Hehuan in Central Taiwan. Seedling selected and developed at the University of British Columbia in Canada and is now widely in the nursery trade. This plant is a great ground cover for gardens in the Pacific Northwestern North America.

Narrative
Evergreen groundcover, dense, low mat, to about 12 inches (30 cm) high, creeping, grows 30 cm/yr. Shoots shaggy pubescent with solitary small, recurved prickles. Leaves alternate, simple, broadly oval-rounded, 2-4 cm long and wide, 3-5 lobes, base deeply cordate, margins undulate and sharply serrate, deep green, pubescent underneath. Flowers paired or solitary, white, about 1.5 cm wide. Fruit bright yellow to red.
